Along with Shaylin's ongoing personal practice of meditation and yoga, She has led many Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction classes. She has participated in extensive professional trainings in mindfulness meditation. She has attended trainings with Jon Kabat-Zinn, Ph.D., the founder of Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction, studied under Shauna Shapiro, Ph.D. at Santa Clara University, and personally participated in several residential meditation retreats.
Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction
In addition to counseling and therapy services, Shaylin Maddox LMFT, regularly teaches 8-week Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) classes. MBSR is designed to help participants learn how to reduce physical and emotional stressors and increase overall wellness and health. MBSR utilizes principles of mindfulness meditation such as guided instruction in mindfulness, sitting and walking meditation, yoga, mindful movement, and compassion practices.
