Amanda Velazquez, M.A.

Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist

LMFT 106125

I have experience working with individuals from various backgrounds and needs including depression/anxiety, trauma, addiction, domestic violence, grief/loss, stress management, communication skills, family dynamics, as well as self esteem and personal growth.

I am passionate about working alongside those who are ready and willing to explore their life with the goal of achieving better (and honest) self-understanding. Therapy can be a space for you to "lean in" and create the life you want; I'd like to guide you in discovering new ways to make that happen by asking hard questions with a soft heart.

With the right tools, I believe our pain can be a gift, and lead to significant growth. I'm here to accompany you, and shed light on how listening to that pain with healing and compassion can lead to that life and support the relationship between mind, body and soul.

My therapeutic approach is individualized and involves a variety of modalities including humanistic and existential psychotherapies, cognitive behavioral therapy, mindfulness practice, motivational-interviewing, and exploration/use of spirituality (if desired).
I truly value the process of therapy and the bravery it takes to reach out and make your mental health a priority.
I particularly enjoy working with individuals experiencing self-doubt in midst of life's stressors, adolescents struggling with depression and anxiety, and couples seeking to improve connection and growth together.

Prior to my time in private practice, my journey in mental health care included settings such as local agencies, non-profit organizations, intensive outpatient programs, and education.
I received a Master's Degree in Clinical Psychology, with an emphasis in Marriage and Family Therapy from Azusa Pacific University - San Diego.
