I gained my clinical experience working at a hospice practicing bereavement counseling and providing individual and family therapy to adults at various non-profit community mental health agencies. Given my cultural and language background as a Chinese American, I have also worked extensively with adults and families in the Asian Community to address various mental health issues including acculturation and immigration challenges.
Throughout my career, I have had the opportunity to work with a diverse client population, including individuals with chronic, severe mental illnesses, mood disorders, psychotic disorders, substance use disorders, and complicated trauma and grief and loss issues.
I currently provide clinical supervision to pre-license student interns and manage an adult outpatient mental health program at a local non-profit community mental health agency.
My greatest reward as a therapist is being able to facilitate the journey of healing and growth for my clients to bring about deeper meaning and fulfillment in their lives. I believe in the power of unconditional positive regard, active listening, mindful presence, and strong therapeutic alliance and relationship in making therapy a healing space where clients can feel safe and supported, to explore the challenges and issues they face, and uncover their own inner resources and strengths to make positive changes.
I hold a Master’s degree in Counseling Psychology from Santa Clara University and am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist. I practice a humanistic/existential and client centered approach to therapy, and use a combination of cognitive-behavioral, solution-focused, motivational interviewing, mindfulness techniques, and acceptance and commitment therapy to address a wide range of mental health issues including depression, anxiety, grief and loss, trauma, life transitions, developmental concerns, relationship/couple issues, and addictions.
I am here to help support you and your growth.
